Workshop: Introduction to Physical Theatre

Post date: 28-Sep-2015 17:39:06

As you all know, Fairy Tales is coming to town! But not only that, on the morning of the third performance day, Cabinets of Curiosity will be offering a special workshop for the ESOC Theatre Group Members.

What is it about?

This workshop encourages actors to think about the physical aspects of their performance, helping with characterisation and increasing stage presence. Through a series of fun exercises, we will aim to:

1. Increase physical awareness – so you become more aware of the underused parts of your body and can explore different types of physicality that are different from your habitual posture and movement.

2. Increase physical confidence – so you appreciate your body’s capabilities and feel more at home in your own skin.

3. Increase physical versatility – so you can use your physicality to create a character and build a more truthful acting performance.

Key dates

The workshop will be held at The Westside Theatre. Start time is 10.30am and the workshop will run for approximately 2.5-3 hours. Please be aware that some exercises require lying on the floor - comfortable, loose clothing is recommended. Please note: the workshop requires a minimum of 5 participants.
